Arwen's first camp out!

Well, in theory that is. You saw a cartoon where they went on a camp out in their backyard and suddenly you also want a camp out but you said "we don't have a backyard" and then I said "maybe we can go camping at mak long's house". Mak Long was very sporting and was on board at once when I asked her. You told kakak Iman "I can't go camping in my garden. my garden is full of cars!" Hahahaha

Anyway so on 18 Dec 2012, mama took you, ya, redza, nadiah and adam for a camp out at mak long's house. So we played at the backyard with 2 of your tents. I even let you and Ya fall asleep in the tent. Then I carried Ya into the downstairs bedroom and then when I carried you in, you woke up and had a terrible meltdown! A midnight meltdown! You didn't want to sleep in the house! Everybody was so surprised because they have never seen you throw a tantrum. At 7 years old you could not comprehend why I didn't let you sleep outside like in the cartoon. You cried so loudly for so long and eventually I think at about 3am you settled down but still refused to go into the bedroom. We brought your tent into the house too but you didn't want to sleep in it. So in the end both of us slept on the couch. Then slowly Mama slept on the floor while you were on the couch. In the end Mama had the camp out because I slept on the sleeping bag. Arwen Arwen anak mama. Mengamuk pasal tak dapat tidur luar. Bahaya la sayang. Ada nyamuk. Takut pencuri pun ada juga.

Golf

It has been a long time since you've been to the driving range. There always seems to be other pressing things to do whenever we plan to go to the range. Finally, today we get to go since Tok Bak is in Johor. You cant fit your golf shoes anymore!! But you are stronger now and can actually lift your golf clubs.

Sleepover at our house!

For the first time ever Ya and Redza is sleeping over at our house! Then along came Tuah and Nisha too! Yippee! So it was on a tuesday, tok bak came to our house. Then we went to TTDI because tok bak wanted to visit a shop there. Thereafter, we stopped by at Mak Lin's house and then Tuah and Nisha followe us home in Tok bak's car.

Tok bak had lunch and dinner at our house! This was a big feat for me because I can't really cook for others save for bak and you. So the kiddies slept over for 2 nights and I think you all had fun. This was a big accomplishment for me too because I actually cooked food for the kiddies - bihun goreng! Hahaha

On the second day, we went swimming at the club. Mak Teh came along and brought nadiah and Adam too as she was on leave. Adam wanted to sleep over our house too at the very beginning with Ya and Redza but mak teh thought it would be too much for me handle.

End of Standard One

Phew!! I can breathe a sigh of relief and prepare us for the years to come. What a year it has been. The 1st quarter was horrible for you and for me. It got better along the way. You stopped crying after 3 months. It was an awful, awful time. Its the kind of pain that I wouldn't wish on any parent and any child. Eventually, as you got familiar with the new surroundings and the new friends, you adapted but that was after I had to leave you in tears and then watching you watching me leaving the school compound also in tears. It was a horrible time for both of us.

Along the way, I started leaving you further and further away from your classroom. Thank God your classroom is the first one in the block! The first three months I had to drop you off at the classroom. Then in stages at the flag pole, then at the first big round planter box and later at the second big round planter box further away from your classroom. After a certain amont of time you were ok saying bye in the middle of the open car park space between the end of the entrance stairs and your classroom. Finally maybe towards early October you were ok when we say goodbye at the bottom of the entrance stairs.

You did ask me once why some other parents can send their kids to class. I told you that that shouldn't matter to is because I am doing this to teach you independence and so that you cam be brave and strong when you're on your own. Pretty soon you were and still is capable of walking straight to us without even a single glance back to me. I know because I still watch you walk until you enter your classroom door and I feel proud, happy and sad all at the same time seeing how much you have improved this year.

Everyday I pray that you are safe, happy and enjoy learning and playing at school. I love you Wen.

Cheerleading Club SKTTDI 1

You joined the club today. I was quite apprehensive but you seemed keen and was ok to join, so I decided that maybe we should give it a shot. I really wanted you to have an outlet to perform since you always seem to enjoy performing. In addition I wanted you to experience teamwork and a sense of belonging to the school outside of class especially since your once a week PE is always cancelled. I also wanted you to exercise and gain strength as well. I pray that this will be a good experience for you.

Happy 7th Birthday Wen!!

You turned 7 years old! 21st October was on a Sunday this year, so we had a celebration a day earlier on Saturday at Tok Bak's house. The theme for this year is Adventure Time!

On Sunday we had breakfast at McDonalds and basically chilled out the whole but mama was busy cleaning up the house and you commented "mama, you're very busy today." In the morning after you woke up, you said to me in an amazed tone, "I can't believe that everybody gave me just what I wanted." Basically you got Oliver and the pink stick unicorn which you have been wanting for maybe 2 years ago!! You also got a handmade Finn backpack which kakak Iman sewed for you! Also a pretty black T with pink tutu attached and a figurine of Yaya from Boboiboy.

You want to have a McDonalds party with your friends. InsyaAllah, we'll try
