Pizza making workshop

19 March 2013 - Ikea's Pizza Making Workshop at Papa John's Ikano. We love Ikea workshops. Its basically free. We just use the smale dollars we collect from the mushroom machine every time we go to Ikea.
We love it when we go to Ikea/Ikano/Curve early in the morning because there is no crowd of people!

In the kitchen.

Coming out from the very cold freezer!
Time to make pizza!

Time to bake the pizza.

Yummy pizza!

Social Media

Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Whatsapp - Social Media!!! The good and the bad from social media. Currently, I am pulling myself away from Facebook. I think I am not strong enough for Facebook. At this point in my life - it is just too much for me. Too much information, too much sharing, too much unintended showing off.

Right now, you watch YouTube for the cartoons and Froggy and DCTC and World Lego. No facebook and no instagram. Yet  - I guess. The time will come I suppose when you will ask for an account but I hope we can delay that for a long while still. You already have a phone now ever since Bak upgraded his phone and then his old phone became mine. So you got my old phone earlier in 2015 which meant you have access to whatsapp and whatsapp groups. Your friends from school created a whatsapp group recently. You are in it but you are not active. Thank GOD!

I try to limit my phone usage to only the necessary and only when I am by myself. I try not to do it when I am with you and Bak or even when I am in anyone else's company. It's tough but I think its the right thing to do.

Exams!!

Oh Allah, please help Arwen throughout her schooling years and all her exams. Let her do well, let her understand what she learns in class from her teachers. Keep her safe, fit, healthy, happy. Bless her. Bless her life.

Oh Allah please help us. Hanya pada Engkaulah kami memohon pertolongan dan perlindungan. Amin.

Family history - Tok Bak's side

Arwah Tok Sarfan

Arwah Tok Halimah
Dear Arwen,

The above are pictures of Tok Bak's parents. I interviewed Tok Bak for his family history just so that it will be remembered.

Tok Sarfan, born in 1857, came to Tanah Melayu from the island of Jawa in the year 1901. He was 44 years years old. In Tanah Melayu, he settled down in Ulu Tiram, Johor. He was a mandur and a pendekar. He is very skilled in the Malay martial arts of silat. Apparently, he was much feared as he was respected.

He married 11 times. There was a story that even when he had his eye on a married lady, he will be able to convince the married lady's husband to divorce the lady so that he can marry her. However, he had no children from the first 10 wives until he finally married Halimah Othman. Tok Halimah was born in the year 1904, which makes their age difference to be 47 years. Tok Halimah was probably 15 years old when they married and that makes Tok Sarfan 62 years old. Doesn't that just make your head spin?

Together, they had 11 children but only 6 survived. Their first born was whom I called Pak Long Jhom. He was born in the year 1920. Tok Sarfan had his first born when he was 63 years old. After Pak Long Jhom was born, there were 5 children but none survived for long until my aunt - Chik Kham was born. Then came my dad, your Tok Bak. Then his younger siblings came; whom I call Cik Peah, Cik Midah and Cik Rahman.

Your Tok Bak was born in 1940, which makes his age gap from his eldest brother to be a 20-years difference! The youngest child, Cik Rahman was born in 1951 and if you do the maths - it means that Tok Sarfan was 94 years old when he had his last child! This fact just blew over my head when I first thought about it.

Tok Sarfan passed away in 1962. He was 105 years old. Tok Bak was 22 years old and that means Cik Rahman, the youngest child was only 11 when the father passed away. So sad. He lived a long life but he didn't get to see his grandchildren.

Tok Halimah lived till she was 78 years old. She passed away in 1982 at the Gurney house. I was about 7 years old. I do remember her a bit but we weren't  close.

Selling the house

Since December 2014, we have been talking about moving to Cyberjaya because suddenly we are attracted to the lifestyle that Cyberjaya can offer us. Bigger roads, less traffic, no MRT construction,  better facilities for cycling, running and swimming nearby. The facilities there are cheaper too.

So we have put up this house for sale. Let's pray that all will go well and easy for us and that this move will be the best for all of us - including Cleo! Allahumma Yassir Wala Tuassir Allahhumma atmim bil khair..

Supersharkz and Violin Lessons

We had a busy Sunday the1st of March 2015.  We left the house at about 10.15am to check out the new swim school in Kota Damansara - Supersharkz. They had you evaluated for your swimming skills. We signed you up and you are now in Level 3 of their syllabus.

Then we went to buy nasi kukus ilham in Mutiara Damansara and had lunch at Tok's house. Then off to Bangsar Village to get Bak's haircut. We had to go to the Cut N Go branch in Bangsar Village because Bak's favourite barber, Michael is there now ever since the branch at e@Curve closed down. Then straight to Sunway Giza for you try out a violin lesson.

We signed up for both the swim class and the violin lessons for you. We hope that these will serve you well in the future an d that you appreciate these opportunities that we have given you and will work hard to achieve great results ok.
