Troll Talk

Jan 22, 2013. You were so cute Wen, no teeth and all. You were saying the dialogue between 2 trolls from the movie Tinkerbell and The Lost Treasure.

Troll 1: The expression, to grind the bones to make our bread, not bed!
Troll 2: Oh, really? Who would want to make bread out of bones? Might break a tooth.
Troll 1: Well, who would want to sleep in a bed made out of bones? It's hard on your back, put a creak in your neck!

You always have a talent to imitate or mimic anyone or anything that you want.

Shopping

17 jan 2012- today you asked me "how come you dont want to go shopping anymore ma? Is it because you are tired?

You had heard bak and i talking about how i said we should stop shopping this year. Then you worriedly ask "but what about food? How are we going to get food?"

Oh dear i am so sorry you thought that stopping shopping also included grocery shopping! Well i explained that of course we wil still buy food! I was referring to clothes, shoes, toys, unnecesary stuff which we already have enough.

I know having and buying things are great but we cant have too many things because then we'd be bogged down with too much clutter.

How Mama and Bak first met

17 Jan 2013 - Today coming back from school you asked me how Bak and I first met. Wow. I think I asked Tok Bak how he first met arwah Tok Bak when I was in my late twenties I think! hahaa You are so young and already asking this question.

Well, we met in our Australian matriculation (ausmat) programme when we were 17 years old. Well i was almost 18 since we met in June 1993. We were classmates (class Selwyn). Actually, we have a mutual friend, Aunty Zaireen. She was my Bbgs schoolmate and bak's tuition mate in Form Five. She also worked with bak in the Giordano (clothing store) after they finished Form Five. Well, anyway she told Bak to find me when he entered Ausmat. Little did we all know that bak and i would be classmates, good friends, best friends, and getting married 9 years later.

Mengaji

Well finally I managed to get a place for you to learn mengaji. I let you off for a whole year last year! Now since the second week of school, 7 Jan 2012 you started mengaji with Cikgu Ros at Sungai Penchala from Mondays to Thursdays every week. I pray that you will like and will do better at agama and bahasa arab this year.

You can swim!

Bak was on leave for one week in December (date?) and we went swimming almost every day and suddenly you can swim like a cat and thread water!! Bak has been trying to teach you for so long but you simply refused to actually learn and do it. But once you put your mind to it, you can do it easily. It's always been like that for you. Believe that you can do whatever you set your mind to.

Tunnel - no radio signal

This was last year. I found it interesting that you can have a conversation with me now. Everyday we go through the Penchala Link Tunnel to get to your school. It is a short tunnel but the radio does not get reception inside the tunnel and you asked me why. Especially because you remembered that when we go through the Smart Tunnel - the really really long tunnel, we can still get radio reception there. So clever anak mama. Well, even though it was too early in the morning to get technical, I basically explained that its all got to do with the signal antenna for receiving the radio reception. They did not install it in the Penchala tunnel but they did so in the Smart Tunnel.

Talking with Arwen

I first drafted this entry in October 2012. So these conversations would have taken place before this date.

It has been a while since I wrote about funny conversations we've had. Let me see if I can recall.

1) Recently, while we were at a red traffic light, I kind of pranked you. You were looking outside the window and I called your name. So when you turned to look at me, I had my finger next to your cheek and automatically poked your cheek. Then I laughed and then you exclaimed, "Ma! How can you do this to your own daughter??!!"

2) For whatever reason, you decided to strike a vogue pose as we pass through the guard post at our house. Mama geleng kepala la sambil ketawa.

3) I scolded you one time after school because basically mama tak tahan sebab Arwen selalu hilang stationery kat sekolah. Pencils, rulers, erasers, colour pencils. I've been holding back for so long because I did not want to get worked up over stationery because yes, we always have extra at home but that one day I sort of blew up because you rwhole colour pencil was takenn by someone else and you said you did not know who took it. Its the principle that matters - You must learn how to take care of your things and don't let other people take your stuff. So I went on and on explaining the importance of taking care of your own stuff and when I stopped to take a breath you said "Ok Ma, how about a kiss to calm you down?"

Arrggghhh pandai Arwen ye. Usually you would never volunteer to kiss me anymore because nanti basah la due to the saliva and because Mam's face is oily. hmmmmm tak jadila mama continue marah masa tu. Sabar jelah.

4) This was after Hari Raya August 2012, we were having dinner st Dome. I can't remember exactly what we were talking about but you said "I see azra play with her saliva all the time. It's super gross." Such acute observation hahhaaaa. You don't like being kissed by me ever since pre-school, maybe since you were 5 years old because nanti nak kena wipe-wipe.

5) You've been wanting an adik and now you want 2 brothers and a sister named Gumball, Darwin and Annayiese especially so that the chairs at our dining table is filled up.

6) There was once that I jokingly said "mama tak nak kawan arwenlah" to which you replied quite seriously "mama you are not my friend..., you're my mama"

7) You have the same problem I had when I was in school more than 20 years ago. I can't belive my daughter has the same problem. We have large handwriting and the blank spaces given in the activity books are always so small. Totally insufficient for us with the big fonts, You commented during one of our daily homework sessions "Kesian arwen, kena tulis kecik macam tikus."

8) You have learned a bit about the value of money so whenever  you want something you will ask "Do u have enough money bak?" There was one time you followed Bak to work because there was a Raya gathering. Bak was on half-day that day, so you guys came back after lunch. (I went to my exercise class and so I didn't go to the gathering). Sometime after that, you asked for something from Bak and Bak said he didn't have enough money and then you said " Oh I know why you don't have enough money. Its because you went back early that day" So adorable.

9) You are my girly girl. You love dressing up, make up, nail polish, dresses etc and pink stuff in general. As for me, I just like pink and not much of the other stuff. So you wondered when you were younger than 5 years old. You were probably 4 years ols and you asked me "Why dont you wear make up Ma? How come you don't wear dresses ma?"

Uno!

You can now play Uno!

We (you, me and Bak) started playing Uno at the Pullman hotel. Thereafter, you wanted to play every night during the remaining school holidays last December. I had my Uno cards since before you were birn and I bough you the Mickey Mouse and Gang Uno cards when you were still a toddler. My, how the time flies and now you can play Uno with me and Bak.

20.12.2012 mama and bak's 10th year wedding anniversary

A pretty date. 20.12.2012. We went to Pullman Putrajaya for a getaway for mama and bak's anniversary. We had a gorgeous 1 bedroom apartment. Aahhh wish our house could be like that without all our clutter hahaha

It was crazy hectic what with trying to fit in so many activities before the school holidays end. So after the camp out at mak long's house we sent ya, redza, tuah and nisha back to mak lin's house and we finally reached home about 11pm and I had yet to pack for our getaway the day after!

The plan was not to leave the hotel at all! Mama packed bihun goreng and the apartment had a lovely kitchen fully equipped with kitchen utensils and a microwave! On the second night we had dinner at the hotel's restaurant aptly called B's.

The hotel had a small man-made beach which actually is a public beach at one of the parks at the Putrajaya Lake. So you had  a go at playing with the sand and so you got your lil bit of a beach holiday going on here hahaha

Sakae Sushi

This was on a Sunday 6 January 2013. You suddenly asked when can you try sushi rice last week on the way home from school. Well you have been asking to try quite a few new things lately. Like oranges - which you suck only the juice and only when its sweet and not sour. You tried mango and watermelon but  no - you didn't like them but the fact that you were ready to try them makes me very happy. So, moving on - you like the sushi rice and the salmon - pink fish! This was at Sakae Sushi at a new mall - Paradigm Mall in Kelana Jaya.

Teeth

Well, your top 2 teeth are finally out! The one on the right came out on 25 Dec 2012 while the one on the top left came out on 27 Sept 2012. The first one came out while you were eating an oreo cookie while the second one came out recently when you were eating a cracker.

The bottom 2 teeth we had them pulled out by the dentist somewhere in Jan 2012 as the permanent ones were coming out but the baby teeth were not loose yet. We went to the dentist to get it removed.
