Makan

Aduh...!! It's so hard to feed you now. It's even harder to feed you healthy food! You've always been selective in what you choose to eat but at least there is a selection of food that you will eat like nasi ayam, roti canai, spaghetti, macaroni, roti kaya (which you calls peanut butter sandwich), roti canai & karipap ikea. For protein you eat boiled egg (the white part only), chicken from the nasi ayam and the KFC chicken. No meat at all. Now you are eating less & less of these food too. What's more you don't take veggies or fruits!. The only fruit you really eat is banana. You only suck on apples. The only vegetable you eat now is potato -mashed and we can't even consider that french fries is a vegetable!

I'm not a good cook, so I guess that adds to the difficulty of feeding you good, healthy & delicious home-cooked meals. However, I have tried to use Jessica Seinfeld's Deceptively Delicious recipes where vegetables are hidden in the food but the success rate with you is very, very low.

I do so wish that you would develop healthy eating habits. It will be so much easier when you grow up but as of now chocolates, biscuits, cakes, muffins, doughnuts and pringles are pretty much your favourites. Good thing though you don't like fizzy drinks or sodas, you don't take too much junk food like twisties & the like except for pringles and you do eat wholemeal bread.

To make it just a bit harder, you still want me to feed you and if I don't, you just don't bother to eat!

I hope you will be willing to try new food as you grow up and willing to feed yourself soon. Especially eat lots of fruits & vegetables. Seriously, they are good for you.

Arwen Sakit Throat

Today we finally hear you talking again. You have been sick for the past 6 days and for the past 3 days you could not even talk! Which is practically out of the ordinary! You told me in a very soft whisper "Arwen sakit throat" and did not talk for 3 whole days! kesian sangat. This is the first time that you totally cannot speak. Otherwise its "Mama..this..mama that..." Non-stop chatter throughout the day & night! We miss your talk and we miss you so very much. Alhamdulillah you are getting better.

Kite Flying

For the first time ever, we went kite flying! In your life and probably in mine too. I can't really recall whether I've played with a kite before or not. Mama can't actually recall how we came about to flying kites. Sometime 2 weeks ago, you asked for a kite in the middle of the day and I tried to tell you that I don't know how to make a kite but you still insisted and insisted and insisted even after I said that we will buy one when Bak gets home. So we made one. A really tiny, horribly wrong kite but we had fun making it anyway.

Eventually we bought a kite from Toys R Us for RM10. So here's a picture of our first time. Unfortunately, it was not a windy day and it was already getting dark. So it was just a brief try out. This was on 31 Jan 2010.

Then we tried again a few days after that at the pink playground. It was windy and the kite went up but Mama forgot to bring the camera. Bak took some photos in his Iphone but getting those pictures from him is most unlikely in the near future..hahaha. Anyway here's some photos of us playing kite for the 3rd time. This was on 7 Feb 2010. Pretty fun. The kite went quite high.

Then it started to rain and we ran all the way home!

Talk

I'm putting down some of the funny things you've said lately. You're so cute. I'm always thinking you are so brilliant when you can speak good, complete sentences whether in English or Malay. My heart just sings and smiles.

The other day I asked you "Arwen, are you sweet or sour?" and you replied, "Mama, I'm not a food. I'm Arwen..."

Just before that, early one morning I asked you " Arwen, would you like some milo?" and I pronounce milo as "my-lo". You answered "Yes" and then you simply stated "Tok Lia calls it milo" and you said it as "Mee-lo". So clever of you to notice the difference and to note and remembered who says what.

Last week, Shireen was here in our house playing with you and at 3 o'clock in the afternoon she announced that you and her would like to go to the playground. It was going to rain at that time and there was thunder every few minutes or so. I explained to both of you that we can't go now because it's going to rain and there's the thunder and that lightning can hit us and we would not be able to run in time..bla..bla..bla...and Shireen still insisted "..but we still need to go..." over and over again. I was almost at my wit's end and was busy closing the windows when suddenly I heard you say "It's ok Shireen, it's ok, we can go later." I was sweetly surprised and thankful and grateful that you understood that we really can't go to the playground at that time. Shireen kept quiet and turned on the TV. Thanks dear.  Good to have your support.

Bak told me that he was talking to you just before bedtime and you guys were going through things that need to be done.
Step 1- we must brush teeth
Step 2 - we must sleep

Step 3 - we must wake up

and so on and so forth and then suddenly you got to step 10 maybe and you said "We must recycle!". Aahhh..Mama is so proud. Yes, we must recycle! Reduce, reuse & recycle baby!
